Her mother is Irish and English and her father is from Puerto Rico. As a student of the Wilmington Drama League, Plaza was President of their Student Government. Plaza had a stroke during her sophomore year in the college. Plaza was on E.S.P.N.'s Mayne Street & The Jeannie Tate Show in the character of Robin Gibney and was also in the role of Ben Schwartz, as well as appearing as Robin Gibney for the premiere episode of Terrible Decisions.
